University of North Carolina, Asheville

Tennis has allowed me to have so many wonderful experiences and opportunities in life as well as provided me with coaches that have helped shape the person I am today. Accepting a Tennis scholarship in the USA was the biggest and greatest opportunity of my life, being able to continue playing at a high level while having my university education paid for.

The strong foundation developed during my junior years in England allowed for further development of my game which assisted me in competing in Division 1 College Tennis. This was an experience that I will be forever thankful for and would not have had, had it not been for my Tennis and persistence and patience from my Coaches.

I also benefited from tennis off the court, it helped build my character and helped me learn discipline which is required of a college athlete, balancing academics and training.  Tennis helped me cope with the highs and lows and put into perspective what really was important, it taught me that competing, and pressure was something to enjoy, take risks and never be afraid of losing. Tennis gave me the opportunity to make friends with people from all over the world while feeling a sense of belonging by being part of a team.

Although there were many days of wanting to quit, car rides home from Tennis tournaments in tears and other disappointments  I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to play this game and for the wonderful coaches who taught me a lot more than just Tennis, I wouldn’t change my experiences for anything. I believe I am a stronger person today because of my experiences.

Success so far…
